Wow this one was a hard one to get passed the first chapter. The storyline was such a cliche and the writing was cringe worthy. I mean the mc is 26 maybe but talks like 14. Weak, with very low self worth/esteem, and immature. The grandma was cooking for the first responders and she didn't think it was a good idea. Then she resented her 6 year old sister for growing up away from her mommy who is basically a criminal and dates bad man as the mc says. The mc was unlikable and the interaction between the characters were unrealistic. Passed on this one. When I opened up my email to see Molly McAdams's newsletter and that she had a surprise release, I was excited. I'll read anything she writes. But then I read that it was about the "missing" Ryan son, that excitement jumped and I dove in as soon as I could. Molly's Forgiving Lies series is one of my absolute favorites and getting this surprise story just made my day. LIE TO ME is Reed and Emma's story. Emma has had a hard life and with nowhere to go, she seeks out her Lala, who she hasn't seen in years. While there she meets former SEAL, Reed. They have a rocky start to their relationship since they both have things in their past that has shaped the person they are. Their story is full of conflict, passion, so many emotions (there were tears) and learning to overcome. Bonus, we also get to revisit some familiar faces from the series. Definitely a favorite and a must read!
